Problem solved. I am blind. I couldn't read the legends on the back of the G68. I had the cables connected from the HD621 to MD1 on the G68 in reverse order. Who would have thought the order of the jacks would be L/R, C/Sub, Surrounds from RIGHT to LEFT instead of left to right?

I still don't understand why I didn't get anything out of the center channel as it was correctly hooked up even when the order was reversed. That will have to remain a mystery.

I find that playing a multi-channel identification test disc (BD/DVD) helps to confirm that all the connections are correct.

They can be a bit fiddly, esp. when at the back of the rack where visibility is not always great.

If you upgrade to an 861v6 (LOL) its a snap, just plug in an RJ45 lead job done.

Carl

I shouldn't beat yourself up about this. The legends on the sockets are different on the G68 to the HD621 and it's absolutely not intuitive "plug and play".

Glad you got it sorted.

And you would get all 7.1 channels for suitable material.
Alas I cannot stretch that far.

I am very content with the G68ADV for my media room. Now that I have it configured properly, the HD621 integrates all my sources seamlessly and my cabling has been greatly simplified. I can live with synthesized sides. smile
