FWIW, about 5 years ago I had Connecticut Light & Power add a whole house surge/lightning suppressor to the incoming meter on my house. I was sick of having equipment problems due to vicinity strikes (and one directly on my HD antenna - which fortunately was no longer connected to any equipment). Doesn't replace equipment-specific power conditioners, but I have not had any further problems. May just be dumb luck, I suppose, or the same phenomenon that guarantees rain after I have my car washed, but for a few dollars per month seems worthwhile.
Doesn't help you with your current problem, but might in the future.

This post might be dead but seems I have a related problem; Had Hurricane in NYC last week, electric down about a week; G08 came back on; G68 dead; fuse not blown. Have G68ADV from May 2008. I could swear it ran warm but had no way to compare; it was on standby during that time and I never had any problem.
From what I've read, it appears to be a power supply; kind of disappointing for something so expensive.
Wonder if all units have to go back to Meridian. Hope it is worth fixing.
Thanks for any thoughts. Dan
