Meridian Audio has announced the introduction of its all-new Media Source 200, a compact audio endpoint for Meridians Digital Media System. It also provides a simple solution for adding additional rooms to an existing Meridian Digital Media System.

Media Source 200 can access any of the facilities of the connected system, including playing back selections from the media library, internet radio, and Rhapsody (where available). The Media Source 200 is exceptionally simple to use and can be operated from a Meridian Control 15, or wirelessly from the free iPhone or iPad app or any other available system controller.

Solidly built and hand-assembled in Meridian's Cambridgeshire factory, the Media Source 200 is a new compact industrial design with an aluminium enclosure which can be mounted behind a DSP loudspeaker, including Meridians new line of in-wall models.

SPDIF optical is ideal for the (now discontinued) M/F80.

Looks ideal; small and easy to hide. I imagine it will take about 5secs to install into an existing Sooloos system.

Good stuff!

Optical output... (but not Toslink). Take a closer look...

Nice device. Icing on the cake would have been non-brick power, but I'm just thinking aloud here.

The MS200 is powered from SpeakerLink if plugged into an AC200 or recent DSP speaker (3200/3300/M6/520 etc).

Thanks Slarti.
That's a cool innovation. Wifi or wired only?

It looks wired with wireless control through a your network. Perfect extra zone and perhaps with improved sound quality over MC200. Optical out is perfect as coax digital can be derived from Speakerlink.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

C'mon Nick, it's from Meridian - you know the answer to that!

I can't help feeling they should have done a little bit more work to hide the connections/cables - and vertical would have been an interesting option.

But the price point is very interesting - less than 2x Sonos ZP90 so quite competitive.

Ideal for kitchen, M80/F80 and bedrooms etc.

And if not how does it get power? Some sort of special SL adapter with wall-wart?

What's the difference with those models? Are they using a spare pin (requiring a different cable)?
