In fact there's a lot of jazz on it too (about 1/4 of the total). But either way, it's all a lot more acoustic than modern rock etc.

I'm amazed how little space my stuff takes up!

I can't figure out how to get to actual album size, but, here's a view of tracks per album.

Hi Nick
For the record, you have 648 "Albums" with less than 6 Tracks on each.......for the purpose of this discussion, let's call these Singles or EP's

Even leaving the total space alone at 2,886Gb, then your remaining 8470 Albums still take up an average of only 340Mb per Album..........still noticeably different to others on the list

I did test this before, but I cannot remember the final answer.

How does Sooloos count "Albums" i.e. is your 99 Track Album counted as "1" or are the number of discs counted as individual "Albums" in the "Information" page?

Hi Ronnie, yes, the 99 track album is seen as 1 album. Likewise there are 16 albums that have 1 track.

So, album = silver disc in most cases. I do have a few that are 2xCD that appear as 1 album (throwback to how I originally did my SQueezebox ripping).

Am looking at Google for decent free tools for reporting on folder size. Know of any?

How much space does different sized cover art take up?

I usually try for 600x600 or greater resolution files, minimum 300x300

http://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/

or

These will work on a PC or NAS.

How is a 5 Disc Box Set counted by Sooloos?

That's another good thought. There is the size of the artwork itself and also whether artwork is embedded into each FLAC file imported.
e.g. import via Sooloos and you just get cover.jpg and the associated resized .jpgs.

e.g. import via other tools (like dBpa) and you get jpg's embedded

Ronnie,

I was going to suggest Treesize-free by Jam Software too.

I've never tried it on a Sooloos store - I don't suppose there'd be any problem in doing so but I'd be happy for others to try it and report back!

Turning to your query - a five disc box set, if imported into Sooloos as five separate CDs, will show up as five albums on the system (whether or not they're grouped into a Set).

Hi Ronnie,

5 CD set for me counts as 5 albums (1 of 5, 2 of 5 etc.).

Thanks for links...I tried treesize but am trying to avoid paying for the pro licence to be able to export the stats. Will try the other one now.

I'm trying it on other directories first.

Large Artwork of 1,000 Pixel is about 1Mb and sometimes even smaller than that 600 Pixel Artwork is about 200kb.

For a 15 Track Album even with Artwork embedded in the Track file you are looking at about 16 by 200k = 3.5Mb per Album.

Even large Artwork will only be a very small percentage of e.g. 350Mb Albums.
