I have now attached to the DVD controller, but now I cant write anything in the Hyperterminal.

Any idea?

When you say that you can't write anything, do you mean, you can't see anything when you type?

If so, then it probably is working, its just that local echo is turned off in the terminal program so you won't see what you are typing.

Turned on the echo, now I see what I write - but I get no response! Not easy this is!

To get a response you have to "activate" the DVD-controller. that is
Set 800 in standby
Connect Hyper Terminal
Activate 800 by pressing Open on the 800 front panel (Play may work equally well)

What am I doing wrong???

- Connected to the DVD controller
- Changed to COM1, 9600,8, none, 1, none
- Marked the Send line... and Echo... under ASCII sending
- Pushed open
- Entered %%, %p constable, %z 1f, %w, and then disconnected

I do not get any response from eather the Hyperterminal or my 800. I should get a warning after %%, shouldnt I? Does the 800 say anything when connected?

sounds like a com port problem. pickup a USB to serial.

product needs to be out of standby with no disc in.


What version machine old machine are differant and require another method.

is your drive white or black.

if a white drive you will have no joy doing this as you need to contact Meridian

if it is black then no problems so long as the unit is powered on and stopped.

Its white! Do I have to send my player to Meridian?

Don't panic, I set my 800 version 1 region free (white drive). This worked equally well for my 800 version 3 that I got last year.
