I do not understand how I get my 800 region free. I found some info, but where do I find the Windows Hyperterminal?

With 800 in Standby connect to the Video card RS232 port with Windows Hyperterminal:

Bits per second: 9600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None.

Having connected take 800 out of Standby by pressing "Open" on the Front panel then send the following commands.

%% (to enter factory mode)
%p constable (installer password)
%z 1f (region 1 free surf)
%w (to write to non-volatile area)

then disconnect.

Note: characters are echoed but not "Enter". All input overwrites line 1.
You will get a warning after "%%".
After "%w" you should get a "Settings saved" message.

Windows Hyper Terminal can be found under Windows : Start>Programs>Accessories>Communications
menu on your PC.

If you cannot get it to work, ask your dealer. Officially he does not know this off course, but if he/she sells 8xx series, they should know these things i think.

But it is not to hard.

Within Hyperterminal, when it opens, select cancel to set things up manually.

Try looking under tools / connection (or similar - I can't remember) Ensure that the Baud Rate is 9600
Data Bits 8
Parity None
Stop Bits 1

I have found the Hyperterminal, and set the connection as said - but I do not get any response when I enter:
%%
%p constable
%z 1f
%w

It is the percent sign, right?

My Windows is Danish .. but anyway rightclick on the hyperterminal file, and chouse proppeties. find the ASCI propeties. and put a mark with the last line, somthing about linebreaking. Hope ypu understand I cant find the presice words in English.

I have now connected with the Hyperterminal, done the changes under properties and the ASCDII sending to "Send line ends with line feeds"

Pushed Open and entered:
%% - "Test Mode"
%p constable - "Error"
%z if - "Error"
%w - "Error"

Region 1 does still not play
Any idea what could be wrong?

My version of the 800 is 1.51 - could this be it?

The response "Test mode" tells me that you have probably connected to the Computer Card RS232 (C0).

800 has 2 RS232 connections -
One on the Computer Card which is used for PC setup and one on the Video Card.
You should connect to the Video Card (DVD controller) RS232.

This is probably hidden behind a black (or white) protective cap.
