if you want some great standards for your Sooloos I can recommend the Michael Parkinson collections. I fell onto them by accident (Car boot sale) and have to say I am impressed. great for a sophisticated background sound track as well as serious listening. I add artist to track name on these type of various artist discs. Enjoy, Chris

Finally listened to Carlos Kleiber's Brahms 4 on DG. Quite stunning.
Blows everyone else out of the water as far as I can see.
Kleiber in general does, actually...

The Jungle Line by Herbie Hancock on his album "River-The Joni Letters". This has Piano and Leonard Cohen on vocal. it is an extraordinary demo of how good an F80 can sound at 88kHz via Sooloos. you really have to listen....Chris

That's a great album - the title track in particular, and Edith and the Kingpin.

Very much enjoying Storm Corrosion at present. If you buy the CD/DVD version you get 24/96 5.1 and 2.0 mixes as well.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Me too though I can't understand why its growing on me It just gets more interesting as you go along. I'm sure Steven Wilson would tell you its a longterm effect from remixing all those King Crimson albums (though it doesn't sound like any of them). In some places it sounds almost medieval. Weird but oddly wonderful. ~M~
Mostly harmless. Comfortably numb.

Found This New Release "Mid Air" by Paul Buchanan ex member / singer with Glasgow based "Blue Nile". His first solo album at age 56 is late night listening at its best, mostly evocative, intimate, personal solo piano and vocal, but on some tracks beautifully subtle subdued strings, backing vocals and brass add the magic that make this a truly memorable listen. No need to play this above 60. Reminds me a lot of Paul Williams, "You and Me Against the World" from "Here Comes Inspiration". Hector

Good heads up, thanks. If you don't already have them, I'd recommend "Hats" and "High" by the Blue Nile. Similar material to what you describe. Must be the least prolific band ever, with only 4 albums in roughly 30 years!
Cheers
George

Another New Release John Mayer "Born and Raised" On first casual spin I felt "this has all been done before" but after several more serious listens it grew on me and I was drawn in, to make the connections to the now obvious styles/influences. I leave others to enjoy making these links. Introspective, personal and smooth, a very good recording with some great backing performances. IMO his best album and it will remain on my starred list.

Went to Stables MK yesterday on the eve of release of new Joan Armatrading album. Great performance all the old favourites but the great selection from the new album released today made me rush home to listen to the whole. This is good stuff especially "Single Life", "Starlight" and "Summer Kisses". I am happy to settle for the latter. Superb lyrics and trademark phrasing throughout. I could easily wear the Tour T Shirt, fantastic, well worth a listen.

Another nod for Storm Corrosion. The BR 5.1 is nicely done.
