Memory struggling on this, but know that some v3 800s had an HDMI card fitted when the v4 became available, as a 'partial' upgrade. I think that shortly after that, Meridian stopped making 800 upgrades available, so you may struggle to find an HDMI card as a standalone item now. I'm going to defer to 800v3/4 owners here though, as I've never owned one, so my recollections may be may be wide of the mark!
Cheers

This is my first post to this forum. Please forgive me if this response is not appropriate.
I am in a very similar position as I have in the past month had to replace my 800 drive and update my 861v4 software to version 6.03. I only was using my 800 for DVD-Audio and CD's. I had the power supply replaced at the same time with a LPS and also removed the video output at Marc Koval's suggestion. The results were very pleasing. I am going to utilize a modded Oppo 93 with a 4x SPDIF output instead of a HD621. My 861v4 will only accept 5.1 of course. The Oppo will be my blu-ray/DVD player and my 800 will be limited to music only. The rest of my inputs ie. sat/game players will be sent through my DVDO edge and DD/DTS will go into the 861 optical input. This is just one way to deal with the issue but seems to very similar to your situation.
Main: 800 with LPS, 861v4, 818v3,8000.1SE, 96/24-6k C, 96/24-5k sides, DSP33 rears, M2500 + Velodyne 12", QNAP-MS600, Ruby, PS3, HD621, Oppo. Games room: G68J, HD621, M33's front, analog ceilings rear, Velodyne 10" LR- 6k 24/96, MS200, 800 with LPS

OK, then is it possible to purchase an HDMI card for the 800 which would run video into the HD621 while keeping the audio out from the 800 directly into the 861? If you can find such a card then yes - but this means you have relegated the HD621 to being just a video switch since you would not be using any of the audio extraction features. If that is the only thing you wish to do then an HDMAX 421 would suffice. /Marcus
