I have not been able to get the unit running, as the laser has died. There are no replacements in New Zealand or Australia for the laser. Can anyone point me in the right direction, apart from advising me to trash the LD player?

Hi,
I presume that the unit is an imported NTSC model, rather than a PAL one. Probably the best place to get some advice would be on the AVS Forums as they are US based. You might be able to source a replacement laser from the US and get a local Pioneer dealer to fit it.
There are some second hand dealers in Japan where you could obtain a replacement unit if you do have to go down that route.

Hi, thanks for the advice - I'm pursuing options through AVS. BTW the player is NTSC, and I purchased it when I was living in Hong Kong in the mid 90s. Cheers.
