I've connected a Panasonic DMP-BD55 Bluray player to the IE42 card on my 861v4. I can't get multichannel to kick in.
The disc is set to DTS-surround option.
The player audio options are: Dynamic range Compression OFF/ON PCM Down conversion OFF/ON Downmix surround ENCODED/STEREO
I've tried various combination of settings but can't figure this out.
Any help would be appreciated
Alan

Umm why not connect your BD55 coax to digital in on 861v4? Probably better SQ..

When you hit display with movie-audio coming in, what does it show as you toggle through the options.
It sounds like you're getting a stereo downmix with stereo set to stereo on input.
I'm not an expert on the DMP-BD55, does it have a DTS-Surround option?

I get "PCM 2-Ch 48K"
The only options I have on the Bluray player is PCM Downconversion on/off and Downmix surround either encoded or stereo.
I lost my manual for the BD55.

The only options I have on the Bluray player is PCM Downconversion on/off and Downmix surround either encoded or stereo. Might that be your problem? You don't want the player to downconvert or downmix....you want the bitstream output for the processor to decode. Try setting PCM downconversion to Off. Are you trying to get the BD hi-res soundtracks into the 861 as PCM? If so, the only way to do it is via HDMI from the player (not SPDIF) into a Meridian HD621, then via 3x SPDIF into the processor, either MC1 or MC2 on the IE42 (whichever one your 800v3 isn't using) Cheers George

Got it...thanks to all
The bitstream settings are only available without a DVD in the drive and then, the settings are quite elusive. It took a while but it works.
