Sky have a product for connecting their satellite receivers to a wireless router.

Why would something like that not work with an MC200? I'm guessing the wireless access key would be problematic.

Why would something like that not work?

Sooloos needs a wired network that supports multicast so connect Sooloos components to a standard network switch - which may or may not be the one built into the 'router'. Sooloos components don't directly connect to anything via wireless so WPA keys etc are not needed to be known.

The problem is if you have any non Sooloos devices that control Sooloos via wireless link, such as an iPad or PC/Mac running Control:PC/Mac. Not all wireless access points (WAP) that are integrated into 'routers' support multicast, or multicast is disabled by default. In this case, if you can't hardwire your device, you eiither need to enable multicast in the 'router' or, in the case of 'routers' that do not support multicase between wifi and wired (some versions of BT home hub), you need to add a WAP that does support Multicast. Many people just change the whole 'router' (such as Apple Airport Extreme) rather than adding a standalone WAP which is an expensive solution unless you need the other features of the 'router'.

I use one of these: Netgear - WNCE2001 Universal WiFi Adapter

It can be powered off the USB port of the MC200.

Cheers
