i just realized that in order to get at least 5.1 analog outputs from G68 (for people that doesn't have Meridian digital speakers) "cheap" G68d version isn't an option.

what is required is G68ADV at leats.
and this is 9,000$ (or 5,000 pounds).

well, if untill now i thought that i'll get M's processor one day - MC-8/12 seems more then ever way to go.

but this price - isn't it too close to 861?
how those 2 products will coexist?

Hi,
so when isee your pricing expectations gives me the strong feeling that you are outside of europe. Lexicon suffers here in europe from the fact that it is a US product, will say far more expensive as in the states.
So the decission here in EU ist pricewise a 1-1 situation.

Armin,

i am from Europe.

the thing is that our Lexicon importer is very reasonable and price it as US price + VAT.

UK importer (Stuart Robinson i think) is a very nice guy but i don't get were they get those prices from.

Same situation is for Krell, Wadia, etc.

anyway, to be honest for me 9K on processor is too much so i plan to get a demo unit in US and import it by myself.
MC-8 can be found for as low as 4,000$.
MC-12 for 5K$ and demo from dealer for 6K$.

Lexicons have universal power supply.

if i find locally 568 for funny price (like 3$k) i guess i would go for that but our market is very small so i don't think that it will happen.

in any case it's stiil interesting to see answers for 2 original questions:
but this G68ADV price - isn't it too close to 861?

Hi Croc

I can't remember if you have mentioned in previous posts, but what processor are you using at present?

Cheers

I dont know if its really that close because I think the 861 starts at around $13k US. Id imagine the analog output card costs like $1.5k- so now youre up to 14.5k or so. Thats a $5,500 difference. So I think theres no problem in terms of price differentation.

I sold my 568.2 and am getting the G68 w/balanced outs. It is costing me a net of 2.5K. The G looks to be a whole different price scale vs. the 861 IMO.

As for Lex., if you are using the system for music as well, see if you're happy w/it. I moved from the MC12B to the 568.2 for this reason.

If you stick a 24/96 6 channel A/D card into a 861 it will cost you also around $1500. Every analogue output card is also around $1000. So take the base 861 price (includes a IA00 these days for the RC) and add $3500 for 8 channel analogue out and 5.1 analogue input. Than look at the price again.
If you want more like on screen display, component video switching add again $2000 or so. Need tape output, or headphone socket, yet another card needed, ony $1000 this time. But Oh oh, 861 full what now ?

although no price has been announced yet, its a good idea to save up for the FX88 Flux Capacitor [Linked Image from softronix.com]
