With the processor firmware update I think it's a good idea to have access to the different firmware versions to allow extended listening assessment/comparison in your own system.
Sometimes things that sound different get confused with sounding better. Being able to revert and compare over time can help IMO.

I can absolutely attest to this about keeping a bit of older firmwares especially the DSPC firmware part in the processor. We have a forumtopic for this specific firmware part and its influence on soundquality on all DSP modes. It does not affect the upsampling part of the processor so apodizing is unaffected if rolling back to older DSPC. But gain and Trifield width is affected so my favourite atm is the DSPC00044 version where Trifield was never broken and SQ is top notch. DSPC discussion: https://www.meridianunplugged.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=156459I embraced the latest speaker firmware I think all of my speakers worked better together in unity so it stays. The DSP8k speakers felt "taller" initially maybe not so heavy in the bottom. The DSP7200HC got the best result because it sounded not as heavy as before, more slender which works better as it is not sealed as DSP8k. DSP7200HC working better in fullrange alongside DSP8k's with the newest FW.

Shunyata/Furutech power-cables/filters. SR Master Fuse@861v8. Uptone Etherregen with 10MHz OCXO clock.

Crion - How can one get that version (DSPC00044)? Is this bit installed independently from the rest of the new firmware? Really interested in giving it a try.

It's in the old M FW archives. Search for the file in your M FW directory. Mine was in:
..\Meridian\800_Series\800_Series\861_4\c00044.mfu
But could also be in v3.51..
Just be sure you have your current DSPC backed up so you can rollforward again. Press Display/Display+Fn to display your current FWs on your processor. Powercycle afterwards. And please give feedback of any impressions in the DSPC sound influence thread.

I can't help thinking that Meridian could have made a feature out of this. Imagine it: assemble your own combination of filters, switch between them to select your favourite, etc. just like many of the competition now offer.
In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.

Well as I see it it IS a feature of Meridian products... and a (big) mistake from their marketing people not to be aware enough of its importance, and underline/sell it. Much like the Types use for having different setups (like different crossover or speaker sizes) stored, I may add! Regards, Josep

I had the firmwear updated on my DSP6000's a week or so ago by Paul from Zinc HT in Borehamwood.
The improvement was significant - a much clearer soundstage. I thought the 6000's were great speakers before the update - they are unbelievably good now.
Many thanks to Paul for coming over - and for making no charge and for being in no rush to leave. Folks, we have a very good dealer here if you're in the Hertfordshire area.

Adil,
Many thanks for sharing your impressions. It was a long wait for the firmware but it really has lifted the bar again. I felt the mid bass handling was much improved and that in turn sharpened up the top end.
Also it's so great to hear positive reports of dealers doing the right thing and giving good service.
Paul if youre reading, well done; and I hope Adil's endorsement bears fruit.
Regards, Carl

Good for you, if it wasn't for one of the dealers contributing to the Hiker's forum I'd be on the old f/w still. Can't thank him enough.
