Hence two libraries.

As far as id3 tags are concerned, MediaMonkey allows you to remove entirely ("clean") the tags from selected tracks in your library, then rewrite them fresh from the MediaMonkey database. It does seem to take a while to do this on my NAS though, and you mustn't move the files whislt this is being done or you will lose the tags. One reason I have to use bootcamp to boot my iMac to Windows.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I use a QNAP NAS. It allows me to use Apple File Protocol over TCP/IP. This has always been a more stable connection than SAMBA or Windows based connections for any of the 3 Macs I use (Mini, Macbook and iMac).

Curious?

Once the (nasty) double databases synced up and squeezebox did a fresh reindexing, 99% of the genres appeared correctly in squeezebox.

However a number of rogue tracks and albums came up with the old genres. I thought a first a resync would catch them, but it didn't.

I then went to the errant files with Tagr (to check what id3 data was there) and the tags were correct! Somehow SB isn't picking up the tag for a handful of files.

Mind you, we are talking about maybe 50 files out of 15,000, but all the same, why wouldn't it pick up?

Off to get some of the Japanese out of my Brahms and Mozart tagging .....
