Could be interested in the psu change/upgrade? But I would need to audition it, hard to commit to a change based on other people's thoughts. Excellent work and documenting by yourself though and it makes interesting reading.
That sounds like a "yes" then! I've bought my first batch of CP498's, but I'd like to trial my new solder gun before setting a firm price. The wiring took a long time with soldering irons, but I'm hopng this will make it quicker. If it works out well, it should cost about �200, but let me confirm that first.
Hi Nick, I may have missed it, but did you or others reach any conclusions on whether there is a wortwhile sound quality improvement with DSP speakers? If so, I would certainly be interested in what you're proposing, for the G68J I bought from you... Steve

I'm using my 861V4/LPS with DSP6000s, but I don't have a controller with SMPS to compare any more.
KCLee replaced his G68 SMPS with a very nice external LPS - have a look at his posts:
I think people sometimes associate linear supplies with linear amplifiers, and SMPS with switching amplifiers. There's nothing intrinsically inefficient with linear supplies, they're just bigger, heavier and more expensive. SMPS are generally more efficient, but not like switching amplifiers are more efficient. There IS more heat generated, but then most of the heat is generated by the controller itself anyway. I found that the linear supply reaches thermal equilibrium at about the same temperature as the rest of the controller. So there is more heat, but not too much more. I hope that answers the question?
