Guys, The fact that Meridian have developed an awesome app that will replicate the features and functions of the very costly control units is amazing and the fact that it's free is pretty remarkable. I for one am very happy about this and very eagerly awaiting for this to arrive.
Good things come to those who wait and I bet it will be well worth the wait : )

Personally I can wait longer assuming that the extra time is work out bugs etc. If the iPad update release does involve a system update - then I want to it work correctly/as advertised as there is no apparent regression path (at least to me) if you do not like the new version.
I also hope it results in updated Control Mac/PC versions too.

Still no sign or word on the app, poor show, I would rather the announcement of it's arrival had been delayed until a date for availablility was certain, guess it's just impatience on my part and I am sure there are good reasons for the delay? but still think it could have been managed better.
The thing is, it doesn't really matter what the reason is. The app and any associated system upgrade should just be done by now. I can't help but notice every time I check the iTunes store for the new version, the old version's release date - May 27, 2010. That's 20 months and counting since the existing app was updated. Inexcusable.
Meridian obviously had their focus shifted elsewhere on the Sooloos front during this time with the hardware releases we've seen since then. While those new units were welcomed, they were nothing more than evolutions of existing designs. It's hard for me to look at the Sooloos line advancements in the last ~2 years and think that we've seen anything really different offered. You could see that the ID40 card qualifies as such, and I would agree, but it's still limited in appeal (800 owners only). This app also falls into the evolution category and I completely understand the need to try and bring all Sooloos associated components up to "Meridian standards", but man it seems like the product is becoming a bit stale. Even high res format support is a checkbox item that brings the system more in line with competitors. Capabilities like this are table stakes at this point, as is improved iPad app control.
Given that obvious focus, it would seem that we won't see truly new substantial software or hardware developments until after their revamp is complete. With the new app, that process appears to complete (unless they decide to do something like revamp the old Source:5). So come on Meridian, let's get it together and move on the app.
Meridian can't win here. We complain that we have no roadmap and products suddenly appear and if we had known we would have waited etc. Now a future App has been promised, we are not happy we don't have it yet. Why did they tell us about it if it is months away etc?
Just my observations. Chris
