Nick. In these times of economic downturn, in general terms, we are seeing the rich get richer. Consumption in places like Abu Dhabi and China is simply astounding. Meridian appears to me to be caught in two minds. It saddens me that it is no longer an enthusiast's hifi company, but it seems that (perhaps) it hasn't fully embraced the mindset of what it means to be a "luxury goods company". I am certain the market for its products is there and, frankly, it isn't the UK. Meridian should not be having to make production staff redundant because sales are below expectations.
Edit: I would also argue that its products are still not fit for purpose, in terms of being lifestyle products and plug-and-play. Lack of internet updates for the processors and speakers, for instance, is a woeful omission in this day and age.
