while they [HD-DVD players] might scale, don't expect this with an analog output. HD-DVD will most likely require HDMI for the HD rates.

Hmmmm... I thought they would loosen up with *upconverted* 480i in terms of allowing analog output. There is so much inconsistency going on... Why allow HD-set top boxes to upscale NTSC an provide analog output, yet not allow HD-DVD players this same courtesy? This whole situation, particulary Blu-Ray and AOD is a clusterfu** The whole politics combined with the copyrotection is a giant clusterfu** These companies must know that they need the EARLY ADOPTERS badly for HD-DVD to succeed... they HAVE to know that. Without the driving force of early adopters demonstrating their new HD-DVD players to family and friends, HD-DVD doesn't have a chance. HD-DVD must be a *significant* difference over de-interlaced and upscaled DVD...

That being said, I'm likely going to be purchasing a digital projector 2.5 years from now, so not having analog outputs may not be a terrible thing, particularly because digital is a higher quality delivery method direct to the projector without degradation.

On another note, I would be quite upset had I purchased a G90 or other high-end CRT projector.

On a further note, I hope digital projection methods make some serious leaps and bounds in the next 2 years as to make me never even want to think about a G90 or similar high quality 9 inch CRT projector. Is CRT projection going to die, or will they manufacture them with digital inputs?

Then there is the question of somebody making a convertor box... something that converts the digital input to an RGB output...

(clusterfu**)
