I spent about an hour at CES listening to the new M6 loudspeakers and can say that, once you get past their "lifestyle" looks, these are Meridian speakers in every sense of the term. The bass was exceptionally taunt and dynamic, the highs were airy without being etched, both male and female vocals were reproduced accurately but not clinically, and the soundstage was wide and deep. They are speakers you will not tire of listening to. I think they are every bit the equal of the DSP3200s with additional low frequency extension. While few Hitchhikers are likely to buy them, their intended market is in for a treat.
By the way, the new Sooloos iPad app is a huge step forward, and the 818 is on my wish list. It does everything the 808i.3 does except spin discs, and the ID41 Sooloos card is an upgrade to the ID40. If you can live without the CD drive, you can save yourself $5000 over the 808i.3. That savings will buy you a MC200 with change to spare, and is over half way to a Control 15.

Sounds promising Frank. This is a pretty interesting article about the history of B&O, how their share price dropped from $52 to $8 in 2008/9, and how they have added some lower priced products to try and get new customers to consider themselves B&O customers. Worth a quick read. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/09/ff_bando/all/1

Frank, I saw your pictures of the 818 on your site. Looking at your back photo, it seems Meridian have gone away from the card-based architecture. Any info on this? Thanks and great job documenting all the new stuff. JimK

....... and the ID41 Sooloos card is an upgrade to the ID40. Was there any information available on How or Why the new ID41 is better than the ID40??

Good catch. I replaced the photos of the rear of the G68 with a photo of the rear of the 818: Meridian 818

Super photo of the Ruby system Frank...they look much, much better in your pic than any on the Meridian website. The 8ks look quite classy, which is a surprise as I'd previously thought "yuk!"
Cheers

I've just popped into Phase 2 in Southampton and taken a look at the Ruby editions (a look only as they were busy with customers who might actually buy something).
IMO these look dreadfully dowdy. This colour on such big items in most rooms would make it look like a funeral home in your living room.
In the window, they had a pair of bright orange DSP7200s. Arresting as you walk by (as is the intention) but not exactly WAF friendly.
I'm just getting old...

I agree.......a much better picture But then I look at the "up close and personal" picture of the 808.3...........and the Colour rendered there brings me straight back to "yuck"

Interesting that the rear shot of the 818 shows the inputs, outputs and power leads cable-tied together. Probably convenient for a show but surely contrary to good practice?
