Yes, but what are the principles which inform those tastes? Did you get a copy of 'Psychology for beginners.' for Christmas too? Your point being?

Yes, but what are the principles which inform those tastes? Difficult! I'll try and put it into words... I like design to be as clean as possible without "fiddly bits" that look out of place. I like bold visuals, but they must also be balanced. Comparing the DSP7000 and DSP7200 pictures below, both are bold designs. However, IMO, the display on the 7200s detracts from the visual where it is beautifully integrated in the 7000s. Also, the four drivers of the 7200s look very clean, but for me the balance isn't there. They might be ok without the display above the tweeter. There is something about the black grill of the silver 7000s which contrasts well with the tweeter and mid drivers. Perhaps it's a golden ratio thing? But I also have to say that, and maybe it's the colour or the angle of the photography, I don't like the 7000s in red nearly as much. In fact, the ratios of the grills to drivers in the silver and red photos look completely different... Was one a mock-up? Thanks for such a thorough and interesting reply: I'm glad I asked.

[/quote]Nothing, it was just humour. You always seem to want to take everything to a deeper and meaningful level. You make me chuckle. Was just trying to have a chuckle with you. Nothing more than that.

Hi Joel Have you seen the D7k's and D7K2's Side by Side in Real Life and Light??? IMHO, the D7K2's are a far more graceful and less "dumpy" design The D7K2's are Slimmer overall.........and the extra approx 3 inches of Height helps "elongate" them and makes them look a much more Elegant design to my eyes While I understand what you mean by the pictures you quote, the D7k's in real life look closer to your misgivings about the first Red picture you quote Just as importantly (IMHO), the curvature on the Sides of the D7K2's is a more pleasing design to my eyes One other point to note is that removing the Grills on the D7K2's (again my preference) still leaves a very elegant result (especially in Black or Graphite)......whereas removing the Grill on the D7k does not leave a pleasant result, as the areas around the Drivers is not "finished" IMHO The above applies to any colour I've seen (IMHO).......but in Black and Graphite (either of which would be my preference), the Black Grills and Display blend better into the overall whole (again all IMHO) ![[Linked Image from i943.photobucket.com]](http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad278/RHGIlroy/Slide1-1.jpg)

for whatever it's worth I think the current 5200 & 7200 look terrific, kind of like Porsche designs. The extra-cost option that I think should be offered for WAF is grills matched to the cabinet finish.
598, 504, 562V, DSP5000 and some 3rd party stuff.

Not sure how you'll achieve a gloss finish to the grills...
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

very funny optional color-matched grills. would draw less attention to the box and therefore have a better WAF factor.

Got it at last! It looks like an artillery shell. Would look good next to a couple of polished brass 25-pounders.
In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.
