Not specific to this particular firmware, but with their ability to accept firmware updates in general.
We're asking our DSP3100 owners just to wait a little until we have a remedy from Meridian.
Rick, or other persons,

Is there anything now on whether the DPS3100 can be safely updated?

I have 4 (side and rear surrounds) and my dealer comes to do updates next week.

If I read the release notes:

Software Fixes - Useful - May be useful to upgrade but not essential
Aux legend becomes SLS and VCR3 legend becomes Aux
Aux/SLS source defaults to 4C comms type
Optional support for M80 remote
Apodising upsample filter

It does not seem I really need the update, as I have: Bluray player - HD621 - 861v6 - 3100
I never feed the 3100 anything else as 96/24 or perhaps 88.2/24 when using my 800v3.
Apodising filter seems not usefull in my 3100's

I further have SL 5200's, for them the release notes:

Software Fixes - Useful - May be useful to upgrade but not essential
Aux legend becomes SLS and VCR3 legend becomes Aux
Aux/SLS source defaults to 4C comms type

Also not really usefull I think to update.

If I do not update my DSP speakers, will I have different display on the 861v6 and the speakers when I select the AUX and VCR3 source?

Hi,

If your dealer is coming round to update your v6 then I'd let him update all your DSPs at the same time.

If there is a problem with your 3100s it's best that you know about it now; and then your dealer should sort it out with Meridian. Your dealer should be able to find out if there is a potential problem from the 3100s Serial numbers. I'd have a chat with them.

As for the displays: on the 861 you can customise what's on the display for each source with Mconfig. For the DSP Speakers you have to select from a pre-configure list.

With the updates both the 861 and DSP speakers can display SLS but this can be changed back to AUX if your prefere.

Regards,
Carl

I don't think that problematic DSP3100 can be diagnosed from the serial numbers yet, not enough have emerged for a pattern to be seen.

Any news on the HD621 (3D) firmware upgrade ?? This and the iPad were the things I was most looking forward to . I think it would have been better to launch everything simultaneously to generate more positive online vibes for the entire product range .

Hi Rick, so is it a case of just try it and see what happens and M storts it out if it fails?

Bob feels that "the range" was in and of itself quite clear, especially to someone sufficiently proficient in English to include the leading apostrophe (in 'speakers). I take that to mean that the 861v4 and G68 have this potential. I`m not as sure about the G61.
Rick, please would you enquire of Meridian if and when new firmware will be available for the 800 and G9x? i.e. the older up-sampling "players".

Many thanks.

Permission to ask silly question.
I've just bought some 5500s which are running the latest firmware but I have some 5500s and a 5000C in Italy that aren't.
Assume my only option is to take them to the (only) Italian dealer?
Feel free to say "you should have thought about that before you took them out there"!
