No MRC? Gutted - it's even got a proper power supply! I was really hoping for MRC... maybe it'll arrive with an upgrade - and if it does I'll buy one!!

An AES/EBU input would have been nice as would an HDMI input/output pass through but at least the USB input is a welcome addition...

Yes. What are those two large rectangular connections or blanking plates on the ID41 card?! They are not on the ID40.

I'm not familiar with the Thunderbolt connection size and it would be pure speculation but...

Thunderbolt sockets are about half the size of a USB A socket.

Simply expressed, is the 818 a 861v6 without MRC and for 2 channels ?
Possible improvements-speculating- is the linear PS(toroidal transformer) and the magnetic shielding?

So more information that power supplies matter...

Just need someone to find out what's being used in the 818 and then wait for the first 861 upgrades.

I wonder if ID41 will be available for 861 (and 808)?

Chris

Interesting that it's got analog out! So could be used as a pre-amp in a normal non-Meridian stereo system as best Sooloos 'source'.

Chris

Also do you think the emphasis on magnetic fields and shielding in the ID41 came before or after the new transformers were fitted.

Guessing stickers....one for MAC Address and one for Serial number.

See the ID40 card:-

You are probably right Duncs. The backplate diagram in the 808.3 data sheet doesn't show them on the ID40, hence my question.
