My guess is an M80 replacement with MC200 functionality integrated (a la Sonos Play 5). Positioned just above B&W Zeppelin. Should be good for both turnover and Meridian brand awareness.

All LEDs create noise at their junctions and should be avoided, the problem with blue LEDs is that the wavelength of the light does something weird with our eyes; we can't focus on it properly and the scatter of the modes of light makes it look fuzzy. There are plenty of examples on the web, the norm now is that blue LEDs are poor product design and should be avoided. Here's a link... Steve. Do we have those degrading blue LEDs on the front of the HD621?

big assumption that it is a light. Could just be a coloured stripe. However, the light and shadow of the pic are a bit weird.

The thread about job losses and this one about a product launch in January appear inconsistent unless this product is manufactured elsewhere.
It would not be surprising if Meridian contracted out their product assembly to a specialist company and consolidated their UK outfit on design and IP.

The idea of an new entry level is a potentially rewarding. Thinking of a M "cheap" speaker product with the quality of only the analogue section (active filter/multi-amp) of years ago would be a good idea. Isn't it how M did build its reputation by presenting to the end user a hooking groovin' sound from their speakers? Even the lowest priced M80 or DSP3200 are out of reach for the young padawan.
BUT I don't think M will go the "cheap" route because their philosophy is not to reach markets but to go for sound nirvana at their own ratio of sound goodness/money which is still even for their high end very fair priced comparing to others!
I guess it's a Sooloos replacement, like an all in one unit speaker dock from Sonxs or the Boombox from Logitex. And it will be priced over 2K. JMHO.

I tend to agree. I think this will be a "cheap" Sooloos DSP zone with a volume knob, SpeakerLink input, (it had better have) wifi, and that's it.
Everything depends on price. Does Meridian want to catch the likes of me?

I hope it is a slimmed down M80 with no drive etc.
That would be perfect for sticking in the kitchen, bedroom etc.
Keep thinking about another F80 for the bathroom and bedroom, but something new with wireless would be superb.

Actually it could be just that with wifi so that you can use them as the sonxs alternative even in stereo and wireless, ah dreams... Still gotta go Sooloos.
Still.. the "NEW" must refer to something. It must be something catchy of some sort, not just a boombox!
