Got to laugh really! I have to confess that I despise carefully choreographed corporate marketing, love it when it goes wrong, and am currently enjoying a mild dose of Schadenfreude.

Having said that, I did manage to hold myself back from replying to Meridian's December 21 tweet with that over-eager link. smile

But if Meridian were doing nothing would you accuse them of hubris? What exactly is your answer here?

I'd accuse them of hubris now. Meridian has always been an arrogant company that "knows better" than its customers. For all things technical that is *usually* true, but for others, including product management, it most certainly is not.

I'm thrilled that the revamped iPad app is finally coming. It's long overdue and will put Sooloos on par with other music solutions they compete with. As for the marketing strategy, I am very glad the press release came out early. For me, there's nothing new in it that interests me in the slightest so I would have seen it as a big let down. Somehow, because we all found out earlier than they intended, I'm not as disappointed as I would have been. That's the tricky part about teases like this - you're inevitably going to leave some folks unhappy, especially existing customers who were really hoping for X.

That being said, an M80 replacement and/or a small Sooloos zone with or without built in speakers would be hugely welcome. In fact, I'd advocate for both - taking the form of a revised M80 with wireless Sooloos zone capability and a mini form factor Sooloos zone (also hopefully wireless) that can be mated with an existing setup.

We'll see how Dynaudio does with their reveal...

Ok so the M6 is like the lifestyle big brother of the 3200, no vfd screen, speakerlink only and you've got to pair them with a converter or a M digital preamp?
HQ did not reinvented its wheel but surely continues to fill its product line. the name is surely not the right one, M6 seems too weird, it's the analogue line.

Another problem is they are priced too close to the DSP3200, so could make the bookshelf undesirable.
On the other hand the name M6 would stand up if HQ is redesigning its entire speaker line, killing in the egg the d3200... They already done that with the dsp3100 when launching the DSP5200, the change of name indicates an obsolescence of the former appellation. I'm disgressing.

That's a shame because I dreamt about a new analogue only speaker. I like the d'appolito speaker configs of the M2 and the M10. The M2 were so nice overall excepting maybe their demanding placement... So the new 6-inch downfiring ported woofer seems very intriguing, I would as most here love to hear them in situ to really say more about it.

I read the other posts shortly afterwards. The M6 sounds interesting, but it wasn't what I was original expecting. the iPad app is probably something that will be well recieved by those using the Sooloos control system. I wonder how much difference the 818 is going to be vs. the 800 system.

I could see Meridian making a less expensive M80 and take out the drive and allow people to connect their computer and use that as a music and video sources. Since a lot more people are using a computer as a way to store their audio and video content, I can see an affordable powered speaker aimed at that market for those that want high end for their home office, business office, or avid computer user that wants high end but have limited space and/or budget.
