The contents of the diagnostic displays are less important than if they change when the sound cuts out. I realize that you probably aren't staring at the diagnostics the whole time, but if you can find something repeatable that causes the problem, you should be able to see a change in the display. That's what I did, when I found a DVR recording (I have a DirecTV HD DVR) that triggered the problem. Fortunately, I was able to describe the problem in enough detail that DirecTV was able to fix it on their end in a later software update.
