Err, they're $8k, not $6k...

VK:

In the US this then becomes pick your poison the $8K M6 or the $4K (each) DSP3300.

Interesting times these are.

Probably more like 3000 though.

I take it you're not a foreign exchange trader GizzE...

You'd lose a lot of money offering that exchange rate.

Oh right. Thought it sounded a bit good.

So, reckon they will be 3500 then to match the mark up on other US products?

I was just thinking that if the 6500 5200s are $15000 (43%), that could possibly mean that the $6000 M6's could be 2500-3000.
Had misread the price though.

I have to say that is the only time I've ever seen the US price of something being so much higher than the UK price. Normally it is dollar for pound, or even less dollar wise.
Is everything in the US so much more expensive?

Generally not. Like you say dollar for pounds, but depends on the product.

FWIW, Meridian US Prices ($) are almost exactly Twice the Meridian UK Prices

So that would make these Speakers about 4,000 per pair

Also IMHO, the 818 seems to me to be an 808.3........but without the CD Drive.......all other Inputs and Functionality remain the same.........including the Case Design, given the 8xx Model Number

Got to laugh really! I have to confess that I despise carefully choreographed corporate marketing, love it when it goes wrong, and am currently enjoying a mild dose of Schadenfreude.

Having said that, I did manage to hold myself back from replying to Meridian's December 21 tweet with that over-eager link. smile

I had a pair of Kef Concorde IVs back in the day that used this approach.

Kef used it as a cost cutting exercise; under the cloth was a plain chipboard construction painted black; cheap, but all the user could see was the cloth.

My guess is that underneath Meridian will be using some of the extrusion technologies from the F80 and Evoque.
