ReTyping after firmware update is important as it initialises all data areas to known good values which. Some data areas may potentially change location or meaning between firmware versions so re typing prevents any potential issues that may be caused by data persisting from one version to another.

I'm just reading what I saw. I know what Reconfig means to me and I expect others would read it likewise.

That said, Retyping and then reloading the config doesn't really do much. When you "Upload" that is a "Custom Typing". The "Factory" typing does nothing if you plan to "Type it" again with your "Custom" type (a.k.a. MConfig)

So if you want to reupload your config, go for it. Retyping (to a factory config) first does absolutely nothing (unless you do want to start from scratch and fetch that and start configuring).

Also I think not a single parameter has changed in the Config since the G68 was introduced. I switch firmware frequently to compare things and I never bother sending an MConfig configuration each time. I've even gone backwards with 7 year old firmware (including partial firmware) and it all runs just fine.

What you (or Carl) is describing does happen on things like Cell phones and Routers. But I think Meridian does a fairly good job in how they manage the embedded design as well and has not made many significant architecture changes since the introduction of MRC. There has never been any such recomendation from Meridian that I have seen saying you need to Reload your configuration. If that was required to properly run I think Merdian/Dealers would be in big trouble.

Most the time if something does go wrong it's due to communication problems where a Firmware is erased and only partially written, wrong firmware, a hardware problem existed before you started or the system wasn't quite configured right in the first place.
