Only one DSP in the "analogue" system. Just checked again and it is showing Non-Con (with the G68 as Controller and the 562V as NCon) and still showing the Axis/Bass/Treble setting when adjusting.

In the "digital" system only the 568.2, 518 and centre master comes to life when I press Clear in standby, the slaves stay off. As I repeatedly press Clear (in standby obviously) the centre speaker cycles between Con, Non-Con and Auto. This seems logical and useful.

Looks like Caldham had to retype his DSPs also after the update. My G68 loaded first time but we did have a problem with one front DSP and one rear DSP in the other system, caused by loading 7-segment software into a smiley and vice-versa. I'm guessing this is what caused the need to reconfigure the DSPs.

Firmware upgrade of DSP5Ks 96/24 by Meridian Oxford. Dan had to Re Type Rights but not Lefts weird. I did not expect any SQI but install of second SW1600 has IMHO made a huge difference to both A and AV performance. 5Ks are now Small with SW1600s taking bass duties at the front. Crossover 80 Hz.
Finally completed a project which started 15 years ago with a pair of 5Ks and a 500.
A satisfied customer.

Yes, 5ks respond very well to having their low bass duties taken away from them. Glad you've seen such an improvement!

I found on my DSP3100 master that I actually had select 'ncon' in the set up menu of the speaker. Even though it said 'not controller' when I chose 'auto', or pressed 'clear', it still acted as a controller until I set it as 'ncon' in the speaker menu. Try selecting a source which isn't valid in the processor. If the speaker selects it then it's still acting as a controller

I would have to pack up my G68 and hand carry it over the border into Hongkong to find a Meridian dealer, then carry it back into china.

Given the risk of damage or customs wanting payment or confiscation it's just not worth it!
Do I have any other options?

This really is a terrible decision by M for customer satisfaction!

I'm sure you will be ok.

I too am deeply distressed at the prospect of packing up my 861, 6K's and 5K and sending them 600KM away to another island to get my "free upgrade"

Extract from http://www.Meridian-audio.com/features/performance--features-upgrade.aspx

"Who updates your Meridian system?
As with previous firmware updates from Meridian, existing owners stand to gain more than anyone else as the new features and improved performance are made available free of charge."

My only other option is seemingly getting the dealer to come travel to me (months later), meaning a flight and travel for less than an hours work. Utterly ridiculous and completely at odds with the message of updates made available free of charge.

I'm awaiting a response on how I may be able to resolve this, any pointers welcome as I'm keen to here the improvements on the upgradeable Meridian products that I bought.

Hi Jon,

There must be a dealer closer than 600KM.

Have you read the advice given above. re contacting one of the dealers that post on this forum?

Regards,
Carl

PS "600KM" ? it's typicaly miles in the UK, is your profile's location correct?

I moved to New Zealand. The Meridian dealer is on the South Island while I'm in the North.

Will have to figure out how I change my location now.

Awaiting a response from my Dealer.

Thanks

The distributor is in Christchurch but they have dealers (Soundline) in Wellington and Auckland, and a technician in Auckland, so depending on where you are you shouldn't have to ship your gear. If you haven't used it already, the email address on the distributor's website dencoaudio.co.nz is the best bet for initial contact.

I'm 4 hours away from Welly, 6 from Auckland. I know the guys down in Christchurch, they helped fix some dead 6Ks a while back for me. Lets see what their response is...
