It seems that this update is beginning to sort out the men from the boys amongst Meridian dealers. To me, it is also proving that Meridian's approach and coordination has left something to be desired.

My dealer has just confirmed an appointment for next week. They waited until they had tested the new software on their demo kit and were confident that it should go seamlessly.

Am I right in assuming that I won't have to (re-)configure my G68ADV, i.e. that the software can be uploaded without affecting the basic installation? I accept that I may have to re-run level calibration and tweak Trifield settings.

And same question for the speakers.

I understand Meridian is only providing firmware updates via dealer now. I don't have a dealer within 60+ miles and didn't buy any equipment from him (all second hand purchases). I would like to upgrade 568 and DSP6000's. Any ideas?

Hi,

Please see my previous posts in this thread; it's the same advice for everyone.

Thought note, it's only your DSP6000s that can be upgreaded with this new firmware release.

Regards
Carl

Bob feels that "the range" was in and of itself quite clear, especially to someone sufficiently proficient in English to include the leading apostrophe (in ‘speakers). I take that to mean that the 861v4 and G68 have this potential. I`m not as sure about the G61.
Please would one of the dealers on this forum enquire of Meridian if and when new firmware will be available for the 800 and G9x? i.e. the older up-sampling "players".

Thanks.

Just had mine installed. Took just over an hour including debugging the reset problem (see below).

The G68 retained its configuration settings as did the DSP5500HC.

The DSP5000s (7-segment), DSP5000Cs (smiley face) and DSP5200HC all reset themselves and had to be re-typed. There are two versions of software for the DSP5200HC: one for RJ45 connection and one for non-RJ45. The former is called DSP5200HC and the latter DSP5200C.

Hope this helps those who have this to come.

A very brief listen to the G68-based system suggests it is quieter for a given volume setting, very open and relaxed-sounding. I'll listen at length and perhaps give some feedback in the appropriate thread.

Hmmm, none of my DSP Speakers reset themselves.

5000, 5500, 6000.

Hmmmmm indeed.

I now see the bass, treble and axis settings on my G68 come up on the DSP5500HC display while being adjusted - is this new?

The analogue system is definitely quieter by about 4-6 volume points. The big volume gap between DD2.0 and DD5.1 seems to be less. Also had to raise the rears by 1.5dB when re-calibrating.

DSPs have always showed Bass Tilt and axis adjustments along with the processor (unless the system displays were off, in which case only the processor and Master DSP would show the adjustments, then go off again)

Cheers

Gianni, this means both your DSP and G68 are controller. You only see adjustments on a DSP when it is controller. Not good to have both so set the 5500 to non con.

Thanks George.

Thanks Nick, I had checked that and the DSP is Non-Con.
