Something to do with my setup perhaps, 3 channel only, analog speakers?

Perhaps without surrounds the effect of the center width parameter is more obvious.

Maybe you have an older firmware version (not 1.02)?

Without further information, this information is very, very questionable

The code for Trifield Width adjustment is buried deep with a whole generation of several ranges of Meridian Processors

The chances of one slipping out with the "correct" code is very, very slim indeed

It took Meridian two years to acknowledge that they had a problem

So, very questionable information

All I can say is I have a decent amount of experience setting up Meridian processors, selling them at retail and configuring in customers' homes. I've owned a 541, 561, and now a G61. I know what the width control sounds like (appreciate the 541 is non-applicable).

It works on my processor, in my system.

Any other G61 owners want to step in here and offer comment.

That's the same as me. Mine does not work, as it didn't on my G68. I can't see how analogue loudspeakers could make a difference, though who knows what's going on in there?

Dunno. This thread was about perceived differences in bass between Trifield and stereo, attributable to phase, and given that the width parameter alters phase (as I understand it) in some fashion, maybe it has something to do with the relative phase of the front three speakers when they're initially configured.

Hi Jobseeker, might be interesting to load a temporary config file to the G61 with only the front three speakers to see what happens?

Cheers

Just had a play with mine (G61R though), no width effect and loss of bass going from Direct to Trifield. Config 3 speakers.

Going back to the bass issue, I had a small loss of bass in Trifield when using DSP3100's and DSP3100HC. Now I have DSP3100HC for all three fronts, I now have a noticeable INCREASE in bass in Trifield as compared to Direct. I have a sub in the system, but have not changed crossover, speaker size or distance. I have had to recalibrate, though. The original set-up calibrated L/R at 0 to attain 75db, with centre at -3 to match. The new set-up can only get to 74db with L/R at 0 and centre ends up at -1 to match that level.

This weekend, when I have some time, I'm going to play with the 5K2HC depth setting on the fly in both Trifield and Stereo and see what I hear. No point waiting around for M to fix the Width adjustment which may or may not happen in my lifetime.
