I have a pristine 565, z3 v4.0 and am using my Sony TA-E9000 as a preamp.
Since this version of the 565 firmware does not decode DTS DVD or .mkv media files (via WDTV media player), it forces me to jump through hoops to use the Sony as a decoder for DTS whenever I want to watch a DTS movie.
I would really prefer to update the 565 and get a 562V to use as a preamp for all of my analog and digital sources. However, since I have recently purchased the 565, I am in desperate need of either the v6.0 or v6.2 EPROM to do the full DTS upgrade. I've tried local dealers and contacted Meridian via their website with no luck.
If anyone as access to the chip, I am willing to pay a reasonable price and shipping, and would be extremely grateful.
Don

This is a general question, but is there any way to load new software onto the eprom chip? I have some old 18-bit DSP5000s that are running old software (version two point something), that I would like to update to at least version 3.

I have a 565 6.2A EPROM you can have for free. PM me your address and I'll pop it in the post.

Top Man Greg; thanks for helping out a fellow Hitchhiker.
Are there any chip identification markings on the chip? I wondered if there was an equivalent chip still on the market that could be used to duplicate the firmware.
Is it possible that you could take a close up photo or two before you ship it off and email them to me? I'm sure it would go down well on Duncan's site.
Regards, Carl

Hmmm, I actually seem to have 2! Not sure why. At least there is a backup option !
Anyway, the chip is M27C4001-12F1.
I'll take a photo.
Many moons ago I worked on embedded systems and used EPROM programmers all the time, sadly don't have access to such things these days.

I seem to find myself wanting a 6.x eprom myself. Meridian don't seem to have any.
Does anyone have one they wouldn't mind losing?
