Hi Tony
And was I correct about there being no problems with multiple connections using Control:Web and ControlPC??

Tony, can you confirm that the various programs are not set to auto in your firewall and that they are set to yes/allow (or whatever your security app says) ....manually. You have to rule this out.

Hi Tony
Something else to try........

I see you also have a WD NAS on your Network

This is likely to accessible via

a) an IP Address in a Browser windows............which will then return an "Information & Settings" Page

b) a WD App from their Website that would also allow you access the WD NAS

As you can see from the above, a) and b) mimic what Meridian are doing with their Control:Web and ControlMac apps

Can you try both methods of accessing your NAS........and then Sleep / Wake your PC and see if both methods of access still work

Just trying to get to the root of the problem............

Before trying above, could you turn off the Firewall on the Mac.......assuming it's the native Mac firewall that you're using

This would just be a trial to try and pin down the problem

Hi Ronnie

Yes you right I can access web client with the fixed IP address and ControlPC has worked for 6 tries

Nick

The automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections was ticked.

The pane above shows ControlMac,Sooloos Helper and syncCompanion as 'allow incoming connections

Regards

And Nick, just to add to what Tony has written above........you only have TWO Options per Application / Process

i.e. "Allow" or "Block" Incoming Connections

The options are different to typical Windows Firewall settings

The "Automatically Allow Signed Software" only allows "Signed" or "Recognized" Apps to accept connections automatically, i.e. without asking the User

ControlMac, SooloosHelper and Sync Companion are not "Signed" and one has to allow these as part of the ControlMac setup

Let's see what Tony says happens with the Firewall disabled completely

Hi Guys

It appears that the WD My Book for Mac is not supported in Lion

I have only just noticed that there hasn't been a backup since I installed Lion

This means I will have to go back to Snow Leopard

If I restore from time machine does that mean I will lose the windows 7 installation as well?

Any advice on the best way to re install Snow Leopard would be welcome

Many Thanks

On looking at time machine I noticed that there are no entries after Lion therefor I will have to re install using system disc.

Will report back after and give an update

Regards

Tony

Below is a link as to how to go back to Snow Leopard

However, if your Time Machine backup is on the WD, then you may be in trouble

A reinstall from scratch also carries issues........as well as being laborious!!

Also Tony
I don't think that going back to Snow Leopard is a good idea if your ONLY reason for doing so is the WD My Book issue

It's a lot of hassle, just to deal with one issue

Hi Guys

Have re-installed Snow Leopard and am pleased to report ControlMac is working properly.

Many thanks for all the help and advice. I am going to leave the MacBook as it is and not install Lion until I am sure it will work with WD MyWorldBook and ControlMac

Regards
