M's latest storage solution is finding it's way out into the public by way of CEDIA. The newest addition is the MD600. It's a 2U device that has about the same functionality as the TwinStore, from what I can tell. The two differences are the remote support & diagnostics and automatic replacement drive recognition that it shares in common with the MC600.
It now looks like the MS600, just thicker. I have both the dimension drawing and the data sheet in pdf form. I would share the docs in this posting, but I'm not sure how to.

The two differences are the remote support & diagnostics and automatic replacement drive recognition that it shares in common with the MC600. I'm pretty sure the TwinStore has these features (apart from the diagnostic LEDs). I see that the MD600 can be configured without mirroring to yield 4TB of storage. I wonder if it will support 3TB drives and also what are the expansion ports for, They look like USB ports, but no mention of them in the datasheet. Regards, Carl

I see that the MD600 can be configured without mirroring to yield 4TB of storage. I wonder if it will support 3TB drives and also what are the expansion ports for, They look like USB ports, but no mention of them in the datasheet. 3TB depends on whether the current Sooloos range can support larger drives. My old Infrant NV+ has a similar problem. It's limited to 2TB (I think actually 2.2TB, but no one makes those). Larger drives require GPT support rather than MBR support, and there is little point in rewriting the code for GPT give the age of the architecture of the NV+'s hardware.

Data Sheet does state 'up to 2TB drives'.
The USB ports are common on many of the new Meridian Sooloos products like MC600. I have asked what they're for and I think it's more a case of they are on the motherboard and may be of use in the future, so why cover them up.
Cheers,
Rick

Hi, Now posted on our website: Meridian Media Drive 600 Data Sheets available for download from the bottom of our page under 'Related Downloads' and I believe these are now on Duncan's Meridian Info too. I'll add more as I get chance. Cheers, Rick

Thanks Rick A question worth asking for those thinking about the MD600.........
Is the Raid 0 (4Tb) option something that Meridian has to configure before shipping........or is it something that the User does as part of the initial setup...........(on regular NAS's the User does it at Initial Setup)
It would also be worth stressing that going to from Mirroring to Raid 0 is not something a User can do without a complete Disk Wipe and Re-Install........and then Restore from Backup
Having said that, with the cost at 2,500, IMHO it's worth maximizing on the available 4Tb of Storage........and then using regular Backups to External Drives...........
Given the Static nature of Music Libraries, using the Raid 0 option is both the Safer and considerably cheaper route for those with larger Music libraries

Hi Ronnie,
The Raid 0 setup must be made by Meridian remotely.
My understanding is they will all ship Raid 1 and the Raid 0 can be requested via the dealer to Meridian, I don't think any will ship as Raid 0.
They change the Raid configuration remotely once it has been connected to your system, is online and in contact with HQ.
As you rightly stress this will completely wipe the entire contents of both drives.
The same process is currently available for the MC600.
I've not done this myself yet, so can't comment on the precise steps involved.
Cheers,
Rick

Rick,
Can you get Meridian to fix the typos on page one of the datasheet? I'd be embarrassed sticking that up on my website.
Not exactly "High end" is it?
