From Norm Steinke, VP Sales.

For CEDIA, we will be introducing the:

- DSP3300 Loudspeaker (LCR)

- DSW (new digital subwoofer)

- MD600 (new storage device for Meridian Sooloos)

- New Meridian Sooloos app; (completely revamped for use on iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac or PC computers)
- Which will emulate the Control 15 interface.

- Strategically, we are also looking ahead to add more DSP loudspeakers within the Meridian line to be application-specific.

DSP3300? Strange number, unless 3200 has some major problem. Perhaps 3300 is in a different form-factor (square box?) for installations that need it? Would make more sense for a centre speaker that way too. All will become clear shortly...

SW1600 and 5500 were until this announcement the only non-SL speakers in the range, so that was inevitable.

Great about the Sooloos developments. I wonder how much the MD600 will cost.

The 3300 is indeed a rectangular box 8 x 22 x 9 in. with two woofers and a central "full range' designed to be used as LCR either vertically or horizontally. Unfortunately, it is 4 in. too wide for the space I had planned for it. frown

It appears to have the same amplifier complement as the 3200.

Just read the datasheet on Duncs' website for the MD600.

Awful typo "avvailable" on the front page, bottom of the first column. Does no one at Meridian possess a spell check button on their computer?

I'd be embarrassed if I'd released that to the general public.

[Edit]Oh, God. Found another one, grammatical this time.

"The storage provided by the Media Drive 600 can be and remotely monitored by Meridian..."

There are other punctuation mistakes that can almost be forgiven.[/Edit]

Ref the new and improved iPad interface - as a Control 15 user, I have mixed feelings!

If the app is now identical to the C15 UI in terms of form, function and speed, I will be relgating my C15 to the store room (more likely another room - still to be used).

I can't see a compelling/any reason now to buy C15 - an MC200, iPad as a minimum and you're good to go. Also, no more ugly, clunky screen with attendant cable trails to litter up the room... Not to metion the cost saving. All very, very nice in prospect.

I suppose we'll soon know if it's 100% the same as C15 when it comes out. Anyone have an inkling of when it will be available?

Zander

Just what I've been waiting for - I never could get the C10/C15 thing - never wanted a desktop in my living room.

I bet the sales of MC200s will shoot up and might well offset the rerduced sales of C15s
