The fact was they were faulty, it was not the dealers fault that they had changed the spec. of the speaker, and the dealer shouldn't have had to take the hit on it.
@gIzze

Isn't there more to this story than you are letting on? IIRC you have mentioned on this forum a while back that you bought your new 5200's really cheap as they were the last non SL 5200's around. And I have a copy of a PM to me when you were haggling over the price of my 5200's that I was selling, you stated that a dealer had a pair coming at 3000 and said that another dealer a year previously had a new pair on hold for you at 3250. So either this was BS to get me to drop my price or you got a real bargain.

I did get them cheap, paid 3250 for them.
However, Meridian wanted me to wait 4 months for a repair.
At which point I said I was happy to have one of their demo pairs, they had been doing the road shows with them, and would have had any colour. Or just swap them for the newer ones and if I need to make a contribution let me know how much.
At the end of the day, I wasn't fussed, I just wanted some speakers, I had gone back to 2 channel and my TV is a panny PHD8, so no tuner, no speakers built in.
I even bought an F80 off the dealer (at a good price) to tide me over but then they realised that the other store had sold the last one.
I was just trying to work out some options.

Meridian would not let the dealer return the faulty item for credit, they would only repair, which in my mind is wrong, if something is DOA they should take it back and credit them.
The speakerlink thing made no difference to me at all, I couldn't care less and didn't want to pay more to hav something I was not going to ever use, the point was, because they had added speakerlink they no longer wanted to take on their responsibility in taking the speakers back in and issuing a credit. Which simply changed my opinion of them.

Dealer did do the right thing, and I had no issue with them, and no real issue with Meridian, I wasn't pissed off, I didn't get worked up over it, it simply changed my opinion of Meridian as a company and made me rethink future M purchases.
After all, it is only a bit of Hi-Fi.

No Darling, I've had it months!
