I guess you all only wanted me to use the other program to visualize how the speaker wiring went. That said I hit fetch, it downloaded. I tried playing a Trified and the center speaker was not working. You mentioned something about this before but I thought it was a minor glitch no the loss of Trifield. Hopefully there is just some tweaking to do.
I would hate to loose my favorite settings.
Thanks.

Hi Bayetta,
If the processor's previous owner wasn't using the centre channel, or was using an analogue system, that may explain the lack of sound.
As Carl says, you need the Legacy programme, which will connect to the processor and allow all the setting up you need.
One tip though, when you do configure the 568.2mm with the programme, save the resulting file, and when you want to adjust anything thereafter, make changes to a copy of that original file, then upload it to the machine (good to keep each iteration of your settings file to allow roll-back if necessary). Don't fetch the file back from the processor, as the file can get corrupted.
You're almost there!
Cheers, George

Nope, turn 568 off/on and get message "bad software". Getting that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Im not sure what you have done; as it sounded like you had loaded the 568 firmware successfully, I guess not.
Recommend reloading the firmware to the 568 and re-typing. Then once ok only use the legacy configuration program to setup the 568.

Being the skeptic I am, when I turn on the 568.2mm should it not say 568.2mm and not just 568. How can I find some 568.2mm original install discs?

Are you using v2.215 of the legacy configuration programme? The machine cannot be set up with Mconfig, the graphical layout programme, which you're using. That programme does require power on/off of some units (G Series and later 800) so if you are still using that and it's asking you to power cycle, that's why.

Maybe I have a bad copy of firmware 2.5 upgrade but I've reloaded a few times and done the fetch and in the end when I turn on the processor all I see is first Meridian 568 followed by "bad software" No subs working, no Trifield.
Any ideas?

I give up. Anyone out there know of someone to refer me to to send unit for fixing? I probably corrupted something in my frustration.

Relax. We don't know there's anything seriously wrong.
As far as I can see, you uploaded the beta firmware successfully so that it displayed 2.5b9M without saying "bad software", then used the wrong Config programme and the 568 has got confused.
You need to start from scratch and reload the same firmware that you did at the start. Can you do that and then stop and come back to us? You seem to have done it successfully in the first place.
A few other points
- Just to reiterate, once you start to configure (which I suggest you wait to do), you should not be using the current MConfig with the graphical interface, but the Legacy Configuration Program with a much older interface. Instructions for finding it are above (from Carl I think).
- It will never display an "MM" so don't be worried about that. I'm not sure it will say 568.2 either, and can't check as I don't have one right now.
Important question: you mentioning "doing a fetch" a few times. Do you mean fetching from the device to the configuration programme? That is not recommended as it seems to cause more problems that it solves. The recommended workflow is that for each new configuration you create it on your PC and then download it to the 568. You can base each new one on a previous version which you have saved on the PC.

I think I screwed the pooch when I "fetched". When I opened the Legacy config program I really wasn't sure what to do. There are a few ICONs for fetch, add products, etc. and I got a little twisted. First it asks about your remote so maybe the real configuration is done thru the remote.
I could also choose to "add product" and it lists 568. Well am I supposed to? Or was this for a plain 568 and not my 568.2mm? I could also "add" DSP33. Should I?
I assume I can reload the firmware from scratch but am unclear what to do when I open the legacy config program. There isn't much there to choose from.
I had a sheet I downloaded from Meridian about updating to 2.5b9. It confused me as it did not describe the same screen image I saw on the Legacy config screen. It said to "fetch" so thats where I think I messed up.
I saw no screen or icons to really configure my system in that very limited Legacy application.

Read carefully the posts that are being made here to help you. STOP messing around with the firmware files.
Start with a fresh (blank) config file and add your sources and speakers to it. When you've done that upload that to the 568.
It is not more complex than that.
Also, please have a read of the 568 manual. It is actually explains in there how to do all these things.
Rgds, Nick
