Hi Bill,

Actually in a funny way I think you are partially right. I have a few albums like this, Jimi Hendrix et al, that are by far the worst culprits. But even though it defies the laws of probability, they are the ones who want to play early in the morning when I am enjoying a pleasant low volume background shuffle while my wife sleeps in. If she is woken up early, she is not interested in the strange aberrations to the laws of probability, compression, volume levelling limitations, or even the meaning of life. Her focus tends to be on making the closest individual, which would be me, paying for her being woken up.

Ok, back to serious, this is not a big issue for me, but it would be nice to have everything play back at a reasonably equal level regardless of how many drugs the studio engineer was on, and it is fun to try to figure it out. The iTunes/iPod did an absolutely noticeable and terrific job of volume levelling which is nice on my long plane trips to not suddenly get blasted or have to turn up the quiet passages to hear them over the engine noise. It may very well be compression and I may be losing some SQ, but given the rest of the system, I cant tell.

On the other hand I cannot hear any levelling with the C15 on any tracks. Of course it could be more subtle than the iPod and it is working but not so much that I notice it, but it seems to me that it is not working at all. So I am wondering if I did something wrong in the set up. When you turned on your volume levelling did you do what I did as I said in my first post. Did the C15 or Control:PC go through any lengthy adjustment cycle like my iTunes did? Can you hear a noticable difference on just your most significant tracks or is it almost too subtle to hear, or do you notice it very clearly like I do with the iPod?

Aloha,
