Many dealers have a newsletter so M could ask them to include information on new firmware and upgrades there.

But that would cut out the middleman who would miss out on a $ales opportunity.

But that would cut out the middleman who would miss out on a $ales opportunity. Oh you mean the guys offering great deals like "pay me $30k and give me all your old stuff and I set you up with a new system". Instead I sold all the old stuff and bought a slightly used system off audiogon for a net of $0. I so wonder why they get no business, not.

Well in the mail from Bob to this forum about "hacked" firmware, his comment was that we should be contacting our local dealer.
Oh, hang on, I tried that, and they told me that they'd contacted Meridian support, who were just as in the dark as the dealer was, as no one internally to the company thought to give them an update.
Time for plan B me thinks.

Bob stated in his March 4, 2011 post: https://www.meridianunplugged.com/u...;Main=13728&Number=137402#Post137402that: "UPDATE POLICY By coincidence and as we reported at CES, Meridian was in the late stages of QA for a series of updates, significant improvements and bug fixes for more than a dozen products. This attack on our process will delay release while we change our update delivery mechanisms however we will try to minimise that extra delay. Our over-riding concern is that our customers continue to enjoy the full benefits of Meridian product, including the ability to enjoy updates from time to time. Please contact your dealer if you are interested in these future updates." Have there been any firmware updates in the interim?
Cheers, Ian

I wouldn't hold your breath. I was going over the DSP-5500Mk2 sales blurb, which states in black and white "a future software update will enable support for 192kHz". And that was 10 years ago.
