Criterion BDs are the main reason I bought my Oppo (region A).

Talk Talk live at Montreux.
Despite a constant hum on the soundtrack this is superb, one of those rare discs that seems to capture a dose of the live feel experienced on the day.

The Kings Speech, I thought it was fantastic; one could not help but be moved by Colin Firths unreservedly convincing performance and without doubt Geoffrey Rush who added a good measure of humour, which without, I believe (IMHO) would have made the film a little sombre.
Well deserving of all awards given.

Just wondering about the Gladiator BR. Is the Sapphire disc currently the replaced version or is it still the original. I missed the cutoff to send in for a replacement so I was wondering where to purchase the new version or if that is all that is sold now. Regards Joe

Ray.
Not a perfect movie, but not bad and very interesting. Worth watching just for the music and Jamie Foxx's astonishing Oscar-winning performance.

Rango
I took my daughter and a load of her 10-year old friends to see it.
Average/good - plenty of adult humour thrown in and some amazingly sleezy looking characters.
Unfortunately, my daughter has found the sound track on Spotify and keeps playing it over and over...
Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

True Grit (2010)
IMHO I would put it up there with 'Unforgiven'

127 hours, not sure, why the title was changed from the book between a rock and a hard place, I suppose it sounds a bit more frantic, if that is possible. Aron wanted it to be a documentary style film like Touching the Void, but it works just as well, maybe even better, especially with the music.
Hard to watch in places with a big screen, good moral message tell people where you are going. Good advice for people who venture out!

The Thin Red Line (1998) - Terrence Malick
Great film, sound design remarkable (multilayered, wide-ranging).
I have the Criterion edition, Region A only, but there is perhaps a Region B licensed from them as well.
Criterion blurays are amazing packages. The extras are usually really substantial and are presented just as beautifully as the main feature. Worth the high price IMO.
(In other news, my wife had dinner with John Malkovich on Saturday...)

"The Secret in Their Eyes" - an Argentinian film concerning a murder investigation that spans twenty-five years.
I thought this was a superb film with brilliant characters, acting, storyline, pacing, etc. Almost elegaic, it reminded me of "Once Upon a Time in America" in the way it explored and mixed the present and the past through the lives, experiences and tragedies of three core charcters. The music is suble but always there and has a hint of Ennio Morricone and references to Mozart's Requiem - with good reason.
This is the kind of movie which makes you forget the screen, the speakers, the processor, everything except your engagement and involvement in the story. Highly recommended.
In the spirit of Spinaltap, I would like to confirm that I am not involved in the corrupt theft of a global sport.
