I have an question for you guy's.
I'm soon to buy an Meridian HD621
I have an Oppo BDP83 and would like to know.
If it is best to send an HDMI signal with 5.1 PCM DVD-Audio through an Meridian HD621 OR Using the 5.1 Anolog direct output from the Oppo BDP83 to Analog Direct in on the Meridian G68ADV?
Regards Jack

I have the Oppo BDP83, G68 and a HD621 as well.
I play all disc types via HDMI as PCM to the HD621 for conversion to PCM on 3 x SPDIF to the G68.

I've not compared the digital and analogue outputs of my Oppo BDP-83, but I did do some listening tests with my Toshiba XA1 HD DVD player (which has an excellent analogue section). I compared the multi-channel analogue outputs into my G68 to HDMI via my modified CLUX device and 3x SPDIF into the G68.
Even though the CLUX contained no de-jittering or upsampling, IMO, the digital route was so superior, the listening test only lasted minutes. I now have an HD621 and wouldn't for a moment consider going the analogue route with the Oppo.

Anyone who has compared the Oppo BDP DVD-Audio through the HD621 against a Meridian G98DH in DVD-Audio?

I also have a G98 connected via 3 x SPDIF to the G68.
On DVD-Audio, I actually prefer the Oppo/HDMI/HD621 to the G98.
On CD, I think the G98 is better. YVMV.

I agree the G98DH sounds awsome playing CDs.
I thought Meridian would be better playing DVD-Audio, I can not wait to get the Meridian HD621, and see myself.
It would also be nice to see High Definition Blu-ray again.
The Meridian G98DH has a few years behind. I read that many prefer the Oppo BDP-83 / HD621 combination than the Meridian G98DH playing DVDs.
If I remember correct it upsamples all channels to 88.2Khz / 96Khz

Aye the HD621 upsamples all PCM content to 88.2KHz or 96KHz depending on source frequency. It also downconverts 192KHz to 96KHz if I'm not mistaken.
DSP8000SE, DSP7200SEHC, DSP5200SE sides, DSP7200SE rears, 861v8, 210, Sim2 Ultranero 4, Stewart Cinecurve 2.35:1, XEIT CM-5E Anamorphic lens, Dune HD Duo Cinema 8K and Wireworld Platinum 48G HDMI -> UHD722 -> Shunyata Omega Ethernet. I have the G98DH connected via 3xSPDIF's and the Oppo BDP93 connected via HDMI to the HD621 and then CAT5 to the 861 v6. I listen to a lot of DVD-A and find the Oppo and G98 to be equivalent for DVD-A.
