Is there any difference in playback quality between a CD ripped import and an Apple lossless file import?

I am seriously considering getting the new Media Core 200, and wondered if there are people here with hands-on experience? A few questions if I may:

1. How is the iPad interface - is it an acceptable substitute for the control Units?
2. How does one import CDs into the MC200? Via an 800, for example?
3. I am unclear on the benefits of the purpose built ID40 board versus just connecting to the SpeakerLink input on my 861v6?
4. Has Anyone seen a Sooloos labelled button for their MSR+ remote?
5. Can the MSR be used to control the Sooloos MC200?

Thanks,
Simon

Simon,

1. I believe one of those nice HHers from Norway did a video of the iPad App, put it on YouTube. There is a link here somewhere. It's good but could be better, controls track selection, pause skip etc, allows playlist creation etc, allows volume control, that's about all.

2. It is connected to a network and you can Rip CDs or import audio files from a connected PC/Mac using Meridian's ControlPC/MAC software.

3. Someone knows better but I understand very low jitter/noise output.

4. Don't know.

5. See below.

4. The Sooloos button "SLS" comes with the new black MSR+.

5. Yes, the MSR can navigate the Play queue with Next track, Previous track, Play, Stop & Pause.

Comms type needs to be set to C4 in the 861 and on the MC200 input for this to work.

Carl:

Sorry, not quite sure how I managed to miss this thread. Sheer laziness on my part apparently.

I'm just installing an MC200 for home demo with an ID40.

1) I can see the MC200 on http://192.168.1.80/webclient/WebClient.html. Have downloaded the Control:PC.exe

2) iPad app sees the MC200

3) HOWEVER, Control:PC is blank and shows the spinning circle in the centre.

I'm assuming it's firewall/port related as I have a BTHome hub v3.0 also.
I don't want to open the firewall so does any one know what ports the ControlPC is looking to use?

thanks

OK....fixed. I added the 'Sooloos.exe' to the Symantec/Norton allowed list. Just done that and it's now open. Norton having it set at AUTO was not enough.

No issues with the BTHub it seems.

On we go...

Hi all,

When I try to export albums from my MC200 I get an error message when I try to set an export destination. When I click on the export tab I receive an error message as follows:

"Export features are not available because Sooloos helper processes are not running or are unable to connect to the system core"

I have tried turning the MC200 off and on but that doesn't seem to do anything. I have also tried accessing it via the config application but it doesn't see it on the network.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Tony

Hi,

Are you running ControlPC or ControlMAC and did you setup your firewall to allow the connections?

Carl

Hi Carl,

I am using ControlMac.

Have checked the firewall and it is set up to allow ControlMac incoming connections.

Rregards,
Tony
