I guess there may always be some compromise.

Sooloos appears to be a good user interface (UI) but there's a difference between the C15 Sooloos UI and the UI via iPad i.e. it lacks some of the features and is presented differently. I guess it also depends on how you view using a closed system or an open one that may offer choices in UI, expansion, performance etc.

There is also relatively little third party comparison of these types of product and it's easy to become insulated. Chris over at ComputerAudiophile.com has spent some time with a Control 15 solution IIRC. It may be worth asking what he thought relative to other solutions he's used. I seem to recall he commented that the output from the C15 benefited from re-clocking.

A very high end alternative to the MC200 might be a used Logitech Transporter bought on eBay or audiogon. There are several for sale on eBay for < $1,500 USD Buy It Now prices.

The Transporter has a very good reputation for high quality DACs and analogue outputs. OTOH, it is no longer manufactured.

Logitech on their website sells something called Transporter SE. Same specs supposedly. I'm guessing leftover stock?
