I'm not sure that's right. I'm on Win 7 and I found I had to set both the M software and the port replicator in the system device manager to the same (unused) port. Then disconnect the port replicator and close the M software. Then reconnect and restart M, and they work. Only seems to work on COM1 for config and COM5+ for the flash uploader. Quite a lot of trial and error led me to that solution, although YMMV of course and maybe it's just a coincidence.
