Hello,
I see a lot of the older DSP range have come down in price and I�m looking for a music only system. What are your thoughts on the DSP5500 mk2 and the DSP7000 are they any good just for music?
The room I have is quite small width 14', length 15', height 7.5' am I just looking at to much speaker?
Also roughly what would I expect to pay for these models currently on the 2nd hand scene?

Music value for money, how about DSP6k? Even though they are taller they have sealed woofers which more often makes it easier to cope with room modes IMHO.

The big difference is that there are 5500s and 7000s on eBay UK *today* and OP could have them in his room by the weekend. 6000s, OTOH...

My vote for music value for the money is solid on the DSP6000s. Good luck finding a pair though.

But what are you intending to connect to the speakers and how do you intend the system to develop?
Given your room size you might want to consider the new DSP3200 as this would offer up-to-date connectivity and access to Sooloos.

Well if the real question was DSP5K5 vs DSP7K for music in that room. Then a solid vote on DSP7K! Also with the Reviver sold here on the forum setup to a new speakerlink processor should be a snap.

My vote is for the 7000s. Or an alternative, for your room size, is 5200s - for which Ian is selling a pair in the Restaurant. They sound great in a larger room here. But then my 7000s are fab in a small cinema room!

I demo'd 7k vs my 55k a few years ago and did not find any significant benefit/improvements.
However, I was looking at new 7k back then vs the �17k cost.
Comparing both as second-hand now and given how close they can be found (��$$) I would probably swing for 7k but not necessarily based on performance. Other factors like WAF would play a big part.
