Hello laugh
I'm new to the forums so please be gentle. I have a problem I hope you can help me with.

I have a Meridian G91A attached to a Panasonic V10 using HDMI with the upscaler set to 1080p PAL.

When I watch the DVD, I get a black border of about 1/2 inch all the way down the right side and along the bottom of the visible picture. It's as though the image is pushed too far to the top right, out of centre. Or maybe the upscaler isn't quite rendering the picture to fill the whole screen.

To check the TV, I connected my SkyHD box into the same HDMI socket of the TV, and all is good. I then tried my PS3 and again the picture is central with no black edges.

I read in the manual about altering picture position after pressing the red button on the MSR, but the option isn't available.

Anyone come across this before? If so, how do you correct it? Its definitely something with the G91A rather than the TV.

Thanks........Dave

Iirc that picture position shift cMe in with the later firmware versions. Check to see if you have latest g91 firmware.

Also may be worth trying function-red too.

Ian, it may be the other way round and the video shift was removed in later versions. I'm not certain of this as it fades into the mist of history.

I spoke to my Meridian dealer about this, and they wernt able to help as they said the G91A otherwise operates correctly.

Has anyone noticed this before with other Meridian DVD players, or is it me being mega fussy? After all, it is a very expensive piece of hardware which should work correctly.

Have you tried it on a differant screen, A handy portable TV would do?
Also try setting to 720p or 1080i.
Can you try it with Componant cable instead of HDMI.
Just to leave no stone un-turned.

Your results from above tests may tell us more about the problems source.

You shouldnt have this problem.
Good Luck, Chris smile

Can you set the G91 between RGB and YUV in the set up??

Try YUV and see what happens.

Have you turned overscan on and off on the display?

Ive tried changing the scaling size from 720p up to 1080p with no change. I dont have a component cable, but tried composite so the TV upscales. Not ideal, but I get a full screen. So the problem is with the upscaler.

Im attaching a URL picture to show what I mean.

My worry is that this is a normal function.

Composite will default to overscan on I would have throught, where as 1080p would probably have the TV default to overscan Off.

Have you tried turning this on/off??

It is in the set up menu on page 2 normally on Panasonics, not the picture menu.
