Summary: What 4 'backroom boys' do when they're not producing other people's records or playing on them.

Ed Buller (Suede, Raincoats), Flood (U2, Depeche Mode, Nick Cave etc), Gary Stout and Dave Bessell got together back in 1994 and recorded a couple of improvised sessions using vintage analogue synthesizers. The end result is a CD with hints of 'classic' 70s german electronic music but harder and less 'cosmic'. Beautifully recorded and produced (as you'd expect from the line-up) this CD really explores the frequency spectrum with the Moog modular bass dropping very low into curtain flapping territory. Whilsta good hifi isn't essential to enjoy this CD, it certainly helps esepcially when replaying the Moog bass lines or when adding a bit of extra resolution to hear what's going on where the syncopated drive of overlayed sequences get a bit complicated.

Society of Sound hi-res material.

Is a mix of world/folk/classical mainly with some pseudo-contemporary bits here and there.

If you like Gabriel's Real World style then it's really quite good.

The classical sets seem very well recorded to my untrained ear.

For the money it's not bad value at all.

So To cheer myself up I looked to You Tube and the Diva that is "John Shuttleworth".

Enjoy his particular genius, not really Hi-Fi but as Bob says, "You have to follow the content".

Blown away by the Bluesy picking and ballsy vocals of this girl : Joanne Shaw Taylor

She's still in her early 20s and has spent the last number of years touring and honing her craft and it really shines through . The spirit of Stevie Ray Vaughan lives on ....Highly Recommended

After checking out some old Rainbow re-mastered CDs I found one I had not heard.

Stranger In Us All

Ritchie was back on form for his last Rainbow album.

I especially like the new version of Still Im Sad from the first Rainbow album & track three, Hunting Humans

Hi, I have just been enjoying the Blu-Ray of the Crossroads guitar festival 2010.
The Dts sound was very poor though for the time I listened to it, all the bass was lost and instruments were comming from the rear with no relevance to the onscreen action.
I went to PCM and set the 565 processor to my CD sound format and things changed. It sounds GREAT!!!
Also this is the first disc I have seen where the picture in Blu-Ray seemed an advantage over what I might percieve DVD would look like.
If you like Guitar and Blues, you will love this.

Enjoy, Chris smile

OK. I seem to have got to the NUB of this DTS problem. I had the 565 set to DTS Music. When I switch to DTS Thx things get back to how they should be.

Great Disc Recomended by me. Chris smile

Strange. I have no problem with the dts MA track. It sounds great.

Are you able to decode MA or is it sending the lossy dts? Still, that would not account for the loss of bass and the soundstage shift. Isn't the PCM track stereo?

The PCM is great in Stereo. I will have to listen to the DTS again just to check its not me, but I know DTS Lossy can be great as on "The Kids are alright" The Who, or Jeff Beck at "Ronnie Scotts".

But Slide guitar on my left ear as the instrument is mid screen just didnt work in my watching position.

Cheers Chris smile

Three that sound staggeringly good to me on my Meridian system:

Joanna Newsom: Have One On Me
Dave Brubeck: Columbia Jazz Profiles (but presumably any of the decent recordings from that era)
Andreas Staier: Bach Goldberg Variations
