I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, so here is a link to a 'case study' video from semiconductor manufacturer Xmos that has Bob.S, Richard.H and Roland.M talking about the technology used in the ID40/MS600/Control15/MC200 and others yet to come...

Frank, even in a crowded room Bob Stuart is quietly spoken.

What a great video!

In an ideal world (and I know it isn't possible for such a relatively small company) Meridian would have the capacity to produce a range of similar video presentations on different audio-engineering issues.

Even then, I think we would all be calling for more.

I've spoken with Bob on many occasions and know he is soft spoken. However, watching the video, it seems like a company trait!

Is always very interesting to learn about the evolution of units and technology.

Is the gist of the application of Xmos to digital audio that with less chips to shuffle data between the resultant processed output is more accurate/less jittery etc ?

Is this one of the technical reasons that an ID40 may result in superior results.

According to Xmos key benefits include low cost, design simplicty and product flexibility by combining the traditional function of a DSP, FPGA and ASIC in a single programmable chip. No idea what if anything this means in terms of outright perfromance compared to other options.

That certainly seems to be one of the key points about ALL the Cards using this technology

The replacement of 4 Chips with 1 Chip (and the resultant Data Transfers required between them) would likely result in lower overall jitter being created

Richard Hollingsworth even specifically refers to that point during his interview

Of course, trust Meridian to go to the trouble of Scripting, Recording and managing this and then going to EXTREME lengths to make sure nobody ever sees it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, this goes so much of the way to explaining some of the Claims made about the new 861 and 808.3 etc., and yet they bury it

It would have taken the Meridian Marketing guy about 30 seconds to post a link here and from there it would have gone around the various Forums......whoever does the Marketing for Meridian should be taken out an Shot very, very slowly

Unfortunately, it's an ex-B&O guy who had never heard a stereo image until his first week at Meridian in the Digital Theatre at HQ.

Bob said it would be in one product a month for the next six months!!
Does that mean we are going to see a flood of New Product?

Interesting point made again, they are not looking for a particular sound but a realistic accurate sound. (my words)

Very interesting find, Cheers Chris smile
