After knowing the success from some of you, I determined to open all remaining 5200 grills last night. Bravo!!!, I was able to open them all. I used an Z shape tool I received when I assembled Ikea knock down furnitures. It is about 3 mm in diameter, I covered the tip with thin towel to prevent damage to the cloth of the grill. I used it as a hook, put it in that spot and then pull it quickly. It pulled out the grill from its place and then using hand to take it off completely. I just don't want my fingers to get hurt again. I worked fine and it did not damage the cloth eventhough the cloth has already deformed when I tried to open it by hand last time. I tighten the driver screws which is not that tight after few years.
I felt the base is tighter, but I am not sure it is true or it is a pseudo effect on me, as a reward for my effort.

Using the handle-end of a spoon (I used a tea spoon the first time for the 7200s) sounds a lot safer than other tools.

The handle of spoon may work, but it does not have 90 degree bent that I found very useful. After listening to it again, I am sure that the sound is clearer in the midrange and base. My wife(not an audio fan) also noticed the difference. Does any of you have the same experience?

Any movement would damage the sound so I am not surprised you can hear an improvment.
Meridian go to alot of trouble to have all the sound coming out of the Cone, not the box. Also positive cone damping exotic case materials etc. If the cone is not stable, you have a major problem.
You now have them as they should be, well done. Enjoy, Chris smile

I know your poll and question is for the G series, I cannot speak directly to that but I want to chime in to say every piece of Meridian gear I've had has been well built, great to look at, of course the performance was excellent, and was very reliable. I had one electronics failure on a DSP 8000 that Meridian was great to deal with in terms of support. Nothing is "fool proof" but I think the Meridian gear is very well done overall.

Best regards,
Jerry

It is good to know that it has technical reason why it sounds better. It is definitely crispier. I really enjoy it. Thanks Chris.

Do they spend a lot of time politely discussing what one another's homes, cars and hifi are worth?

You see not many HHs would regard the fact that M is going to supply the Evoque as a major factor in deciding to use M to play their music.
