Given that Meridian stated that support should go through the dealers, wouldn't it have made sense to go via the dealer if a response from Meridian is required. Maybe it works better for Meridian and the dealers if there is more communication done this way. As long as the answers originate from M, what's the problem?

I'm surprised that the dealers aren't doing a little more on this forum to promote this communication path (and collect more contacts) It seems that they're only really interested in selling ex-demo stock.

Cheers
Tom

Tom,

While there are dealers posting ex-Demo equipment here .. we have recently seen a couple of dealers answering our questions and taking active interest in more than just selling.

At least that is my observation. I am sure more experienced members can add addidtional comments.

Just thought you might want to know.

Thx.

I'm sure you're right! I feel that there is a bit of an unrealistic expectation of how this board should be treated by Meridian. Being able to give other Meridian users advice is great, but does breaking down a potential relationship between buyer and dealer really save Meridian money?

If I was a dealer and I thought this board was somehow related to sales than I would consider (off the top of my head):

* Promoting regular open days
* Providing workshops
* Promote a formal communication procedure from Board Member to Dealer to M
* New product analysis

If I thought we were a bunch of geeky second hand hi-fi dealers I might not bother!

I don't have a Meridian dealer that I use, mainly because of the great info I get on this board.

Cheers
Tom

Just a small reminder that 4 months have passed since Meridians last communication on this matter and nothing has happened. Not that I expected anything, but I wished that they had proven me wrong.

A dealer has indicated updates are closer. That could mean anything of course.

I've also had a dealer indicate the same thing. Might be the same dealer, of course...

It's kinda obvious to say it, but I really hope the apodizing and Trifield fix is applied to older processors too. It really isn't going to loose them sales: it just means people like me on the bottom of the ladder would be closer to being able to afford a DSP upgrade...

That's what the M speaker upgrade offer is all about, isn't it? M have no interest in you trading up in the secondhand market, other than to hopefully put a floor on the resale value of their kit.

Part of the cachet of better marques of car, for example, is the lower depreciation of a BMW, say, versus a Citroen.

Well I hope it comes soon as well because I have now arrived at the conclusion that the narrow 'monolistic' Trifield soundfield produced by my G61SL is inferior to 2 channel 'stereo'. Very annoying that a relatively new processor is still deficient. So for now I have reverted to stereo which gives an impressive image and Trifield is presently redundant frown

Purely for interest page 12 of the manual for the G95 says :-

" The Trifield DSP preset adds a surround dimension to stereo recordings, such as on audio CD's or FM radio
It generates a centre-front signal that is completely integrated with the front stereo image,for a more stable,accurate, and focused stereo image. THE IMAGE WIDTH IS ALSO ADJUSTABLE " --my upper case.

As you will have guessed it isn't!!

The G95/G91 Does not have ANY adjustments for Trifield by design.

So that is kind of funny.
