Many thanks and enjoy your new instrument. Ten years of voluntary service is clearly evidence of great contribution and dedication beyond just a hobby.
If you do post a recording we hope it is bit perfect and hi-res! :-)
Best wishes, Ado

I too can testify to the cost of buying fiddles - as my daughter is on the verge of taking her final Grade 8 exam (the last in the series). In addition to buying the right instrument(s), there's the additional cost in multiple bows (the last bow cost me 350), plus regular re-hairing, and strings; not forgetting tuition costs and insurance - plus all that is involved in her playing with various orchestras over the years (money that could otherwise have been spent buying me a modest Meridian surround system).
In addition to practical tuition costs I recommend taking music theory lessons/exams too (this will help immensely with your playing).
We have been fortunate enough to source my daughter's violins from the craftsmen that make violins for Nigel Kennedy - http://www.violectra.co.uk -and members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra - http://www.moseleyviolins.co.uk
Although my daughter also has a modest Yamaha electric violin, in your neck-of-the-woods you might be interested in those manufactured by Vector - http://www.vectorinstruments.com
Also, it my understanding that a certain Bob Stuart of this Parish also has a daughter that plays violin - so you could take some advice there, perhaps.

George. Huge thanks for the continued quality and value of this HH site. It's an absolute credit to you. Never underestimate the extent of your achievement and how much you have helped so many.
A big thanks to you should also come from Meridian and their dealers. If they doubt, do not know, or underestimate the worth of this site then get them to imagine what they - and us consumers - would have to do if the HH site did not exist.
You deserve a reward, and what better than Meridian equipment. What would others, including Meridian and Meridian dealers suggest?
We might sell the retreat too. I really mean it has cosumed us.
That'd be a shame. Beautiful place. And no neighbours within earshot from the looks of it to complain about the constant screech of strangled cats.
Good luck with your new hobby. May it always continue to provide you with great pleasure.
Let me add my thanks for your having set up and maintained this site for all this time. I also agree that it'd be nice if Meridian HQ were to acknowledge in some tangible way the contribution you've made with this site, as I'm sure many might have given up on the brand had you not provided an additional - and in many ways more useful and responsive - port of call for advice and troubleshooting than that provided by the sometimes less knowledgeable dealership network.

I already have way more fiddle than I will ever probably be able to play up to. But I still want the fiddle this gal is using which is actually not much money (called a bradivarius)

Many thanks and happy retirement. The site and your advice and help has been a godsend. Without it I would not have enjoyed my music and home cinema as much
I join with all other forum users in wishing you success with the fiddle playing. I live in Scotland and there is a great tradition of fiddle playing here with different styles from different regions.
George, I can't thank you enough for running this site. The site and its members have proven to be invaluable to me and is a strong reason why I have the M setup I have today. I wish you all the best and hope that your new projects will be fun for you and your family.
Sincerely, Fredrik

Hi George Many thanks for your efforts in setting up and then Maintaining this very valuable Site.
All the Users here owe you a big debt for the Information and Trouble-Shooting Resource that the Site has been for many years now.
Even more importantly, Meridian owe you (and Joel VK, Duncan and Carl) for the HUGE Gap that this Site (and Duncan's) has filled in Meridian's "support". Of course it's insane that they don't do something similar themselves, or at least contribute to this one, but there is No Doubt that a lot of Users would be Struggling big-time or have moved Elsewhere without the valuable Support available from these two sites.
Best of luck and much enjoyment to you with your Fiddle Playing endeavours.........I hope it gives you as much pleasure and enjoyment as you obviously get from your Meridian kit
Likewise, best of luck to Duncan (and Joel & Carl) in Transferring and Maintaining the Site going forward
George, many thanks for your willingness to help others. I was flattered you would take some time to help me on some technical questions that came up. You provided simple, straightforward and prompt suggestions that were extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
For the record Meridian did offer to host the site. But we mutually decided it would be seen as more objective at arms length. And they have helped me out with instant turn around on repairs, locating bstock items, good deals on bstock etc. I have no issue with Meridian's support over the years. Especially Mark Koval (Atlanta) which has always been an email or phone call away for all 10 years. We owe a big thanks to Mark. I think Mark has also been the most regular reader at Meridian too.
